How to read LSU availability coverage without confusing it with the roster
Use the matchup, report date and original source to understand LSU availability updates.
Check the matchup first
An availability update belongs to a particular game and a particular point in time. Before applying a headline to the next opponent, check which matchup it describes. A report about a player returning against Auburn does not establish that player’s status for a later Alabama game.
Separate three kinds of information
A roster identifies players listed with the team. A depth chart describes a reported order at positions. Availability reporting addresses participation for an event. These answer different questions: appearing on a roster or depth chart does not, by itself, confirm clearance to play.
Follow the source and its date
Use the official availability source for the latest report, then read dated reporting for context. A coach’s earlier comment, a practice observation and an event report may describe different moments. Preserve that distinction instead of blending them into a single current-status label.
Treat a missing record as missing information
When a feed has no injury entry, the reliable conclusion is that the feed supplied no entry. It is not proof that every player is healthy. If a report is unavailable, say so, check the original source again and avoid converting uncertainty into a definitive prediction.
